    Hi,

I am about to shoot a documentary and I am trying to get the best quality possible. Looks to me that 1080 60i looks better than 720 30pn.. From what i heard, i should be able to get a better quality with native 720. To me the 720 30pn looks a bit noisier than the 1080 60i. Do you guys have any recommendations?? Is there a difference in quality??

    thank you,
    Luis

1080/30p would be noticeably better than 720/30pN.

Are you shooting on p2 cards?

30pN will essentially double your record time vs 60p

I understand. Will the quality be better on 720-60? 1080 60i looks a bit cleaner with less noise. Is it my imagination or go guys noticed the same.

    thanks,

    felipe

1080 is less compressed than 720 is (not in theory, but in actual practice) so you’ll see fewer compression artifacts. But 1080i/60 is interlaced so you’ll have to put up with interlaced artifacts.
