Best Pre-Architect Format

I’m an ameteur editor working in Vegas and DVD Architect. When I finish a project in Vegas, usually SD and not HD, I have to render it out before putting it into DVD Architect.

Within Architect, after I drag in the rendered video files and set up the menus, I have it prepare the DVD and then burn. However, in one project I did, 600MB of .WMV files led to 5.3GB within Architect, which was pretty close to 4.7GB so I adjusted the framerate on a few of the files. I don’t normally use .WMV for DVD’s, that was just the format they were given to me in, but what format should I be using with a DVD in mind as my end-product? Any help is much appreciated.
