Best Practices for Converting HD PAL File to NTSC DVD
Hi Everyone,
We have a 1920x1080i PAL file that we are authoring to an NTSC DVD. What is the best practice for accomplishing this goal? I have several scenarios and wanted some feedback:
1. Convert PAL Pro-Res to NTSC Pro-Res, then create NTSC MPEG2
2. Convert PAL Pro-Res to NTSC MPEG2There is also the question of fields and how they differ in an HD vs SD conversion. The file has an Upper field, but DVDs are lower field. Here are the scenarios:
1. Upper Field HD file to Lower Field MPEG2
2. Upper Field HD file to Progressive MPEG2
3. Upper Field HD file, deinterlaced, to Lower Field MPEG2
4. Upper Field HD File to Progressive file, to Lower Field MPEG2I’m curious as to what the best answer is regarding these scenarios so we can make the best DVD we can.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Cristian
