Does anyone know the best way to reach quality DPs for potential hire?
I tried the CC Job Listings and got a rather small response (compared to when I advertised for editors on CC, and got an amazing response)

I know this isn’t the Job Listing section—not wanting to hijack here. Just wondered if anyone could point me to a good place/forum for this?

    Thanks!

    Hi Daniel,

The absolute “best” way is by referral or recommendation by another filmmaker or producer who has personal experience with a particular DP. Of course if you’re working out of town or out of the country this might not always be possible.

From my own experience trying to find crews out of my area and especially out of the country I use Mandy.com and I’m also listed there as a DP and Cinematographer, and have gotten some great jobs that way.

    Good luck,

    JS

What type of project are you looking to shoot, I am always looking for work.

Here are some ideas had off the top of my head:

If you have a budget, there are below the line agencies you could contact.

I am sure the Local 600 office would give you some options.

Film Offices in your state will sometime have crew boards of people what are available locally. Film Office can also post about your project looking for help.

For example here is the NM Film Office board:

Contact Line Producers, as these people need to know how to work with DPs, and which ones they like to work with.

    Hi all,

Thanks very much for your responses.
I’m in Philadelphia, but our upcoming projects are mostly along the northeast—NYC/Philly/DC.
