I am using a Matrox MXO2 MAX to output video from a Mac Pro 8 core tower running OSX 10.6.8, Premiere Pro CS5.5.2, Matrox utilities 3.0. I use the Matrox because of it’s MAX accelerated H.264 compression engine. I am running OSX 10.6.8 because OSX 1.7 disables the Mercury Engine in Premiere. While this configuration works well with Final Cut 7, it is problematic with Premiere. Several times every day the Matrox player in Premiere loses the ability to show video on either the output or the computer monitor. It also sometimes refuses to play video or audio. I have been working around it by throwing out the Premiere preference file (as recommended by Matrox) but this is very frustrating and sometimes takes several tries and restarts.

I have an AJA KONA3 and a Blackmagic Multibridge available. Has anyone had better results with either? I hate to give up MAX but Adobe Media Encoder is only 1/3 slower using just my computer. The Blackmagic has more of the ports that I need but AJA has better tech support.
