  • Best Logging App In the Field?

What is a good logging app for our producer to use in the field? For years she has been taking shot notes on paper and I would love to get away from that and be able to merge the log notes with FCPX.

Also, do any apps sync with the camera for timecode and clip names? We shoot with the Sony F5.

Take a look at Lumberjack and see if this fits the bill.

Second on Lumberjack- especially if you have someone ready to live log and tag. If it’s taking a more traditional set of script supervisor notes and bringing them into FCPX try Shot Notes X. https://www.koptostudios.com/shot-notes-x/

Lumberjack looks really nice for shoots that don’t have a clear script. And even those projects that do have a script, it could be useful.

Is this still the only app that can be used in the field to log shoots as they are going on?

The Movieslate app in conjuction with Timecode buddy makes a hell of a combo – and its timecode locked, something I don’t think Lumberjack is (but could be wrong about).
