  • Best HD Render Compression Out of AE

Trying to find the best compression in AE that will look good for a 1080p monitor. I’m currently rendering with animation codec and the files are huge and wonder if I just have to deal with it or if there is a better way at compressing tusing render options in AE so that the quality compromise will be small but the file size will be smaller. I’m rendering out att 1280×720 and sending the renders to a client who will then put it into FCP and uprez it to 1920×1080.

I am able to send these via FTP because its only 1 gig or so a file, but I have a big minute-30 long comp ill have to render soon and i dont know how i would be able to deliver it at the size it would render out as with the animation codec.

So far i tried h.264 but thats not very good quality, and sorenson 3. The footage looks good but it’s very stuttery when i play it.

Any help would be appreciated. (I did search the database and couldnt find an answer i could use…)

    Thanks!

Try Photo-JPEG at 89% (or so) quality, DVCPROHD, uncompressed 8-bit or Apple ProRes.

    Thanks for the quick response!

All I am seeing is DVCPRO and DVCPRO50…no DVCPROHD

Sometimes when I rendered out as DVCPRO and picked the 16:9, it would be kinda stuttery and also wouldn’t render out at the size I wanted it to. It would sometimes render out at 800-something x whatever. Meanwhile the dimensions the comp was in were 1280 x 720.

Hi, I have similar question too. I am an independent film maker and I’ve been editing my short film with tons of digital still pictures in After Effects CS3.
My question is when I look at the composition panel I found two different options:
    DVCPRO HD 1080 29.28 and HDTV 1080 24
First of all I don’t really know the exact differences and I wonder why there are no 23.97 frame rate option.
Because My final goal is to out put the picture based footage into Final Cut Pro in the highest possible quality as Full HD 1080 Progressive 23.98 frames
so that I can edit the video with sound for projecting in HDTV (Broadcast)
But I found so many different out put options in output module inside the Render Queue too.
I tested several times with different options but It just so hard to tell which composition, format and codec would be the best for my project.

Actually I already did a lot of editing and in the end I realized I had been editing all wrong way. That’s I realized when I watched the final video in HDTV…
So It would be grateful if somebody could give me any idea.
