I was wondering what is the best setup for HD editing as well as the most economical (yet dependable) hard drive setup. In other words, from the top of the line setup to the most dependable bottom of the line.

More than likely the editing would be using Apple’s ProRes422 codec.

We are looking at upgrading our Sony XDCAM to the new XDCAM-HD as well as an XDCAM-EX. For our purposes of outdoor hunting and fishing, we will probably opt. for time vs quality and go with the 25 mbs setting on the cameras.
