    Hi Everyone,

What is the best external hard drive for archiving media when projects are finished? Basically, when I complete a project, I will burn the project file and any music, graphics, etc to a DVD.

However, for the raw media files I am at a loss. I want to ensure nothing goes wrong when it sits on a shelf for a long period of time. Any help that you guys can give would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

    Best,

Enterprise drives are considered to be the best. Check these out:

First, keep two copies in separate locations. Second, LTO is generally considered to be much more reliable than drives. Drives sitting on shelves can still go bad. I don’t know how, but I’ve had it happen. LTO is a standard throughout many industries for archiving data. You might consider an option like that.
