Best Full HD Camcorder for around €2k
Hey – I’m looking at buying a full HD camcorder – budget is around €2000 (GBP£1700).
I have a Canon 7D that I do most of my shooting on, but because of focus pulling, difficulty with fast movement, 12min video limit in full HD, overheating, etc, I wanted to buy something less fussy for use mainly outdoors & for fast action if needed.
After doing some research, I see my options as the following:
- SONY HXR-MC50E
- Canon XA10 (too expensive?)
- Panasonic HDC-MDH1
- Sony HXR-MC2000E
- Sony HVR-HD1000U (too old?, 1080i only)
The options & reviews out there are a bit daunting, TBH. Any help would be appreciated!

What form factor are you looking for? A traditional shoulder mount type camera, or a handheld camera?
For me, XLR inputs are very important. SONY HXR-MC50 has a minijack input.
