I have filmed a project in HDV, I want to produce an dvd that is compatible across televisions (ie SD and widescreen)

On a friend’s SD tv the titles are clipped (even though in the titlesafe area) On a friends HDV TV, the project appears stretched, with black letterboxing.

If i loaded footage into FCP as HDV, what is the best format to export it into idvd, to ensure maximum compatibility across tv’s (ie SD and 16:9)?

Should I export from a DVPAL timeline or a HDV timeline?

[overlander] “On a friend’s SD tv the titles are clipped (even though in the titlesafe area) On a friends HDV TV, the project appears stretched, with black letterboxing. “

Were the titles inside the title safe or the action safe, they are two different things.

the stretching may be caused by how the DVD player is connected to the TV, or it could be caused, by a setting on the TV.
