  • Best format and Lattitude limitations when rendering for youtube?

Posted by Tim Neighbors on January 5, 2014 at 9:13 pm

Could somebody please let me in on a detailed rundown of how to best render out video for Youtube? (best format, parameter settings, etc)
Also, What are the lattitude limitations (if any) when rendering for youtube? Should I keep all luminance levels between 0 and 100 IRE? …or does it not matter? How dark is too dark and how bright is too bright? (I’m really looking for IRE numbers).

    Thanks!

I would use MainConcept AVC/AAC with the Internet HD 1080p template. That should give you outstanding quality. Of course you could just use File | Upload to YouTube… and let Vegas Pro do all the work for you.

YouTube expects you to send it Studio RGB video with blacks no lower than RGB 16 and whites no higher than RGB 235. If you use the Vegas scopes you should keep everything between 0 and 100 IRE. It doesn’t hurt to throw the Broadcast Colors filter with the Lenient preset on the main video bus when you’re done just to be safe.

Would you use the same setting for Vimeo?

Yes, no difference for any on-line video. Feed them all high quality AVC/H.264.
