Best Fix for Low Lighting
What would you guys recommend as the best way to fix a darkened image? i.e. – adjust brightness/contrast or gamma levels, etc. I’m sure this changes depending on the image, but just seeing if there’s a general rule of thumb. Would it be best to leave the images untouched in premiere and export them to After Effects and adjust the lighting levels there? I’ve also heard that Red Giant’s Magic Bullet Looks could fix this, but would like to get some second opinions before buying it. Thanks for any help.
A side note: I made quick adjustments using the brightness/contrasts levels and got it to a decent image. A little grainy, but figured if I made more adjustments or played with different settings I could get a more desirable image. Is this a false assumption?
Equipment used: canon hv20 w red rock micro 35 mm attachment. Panasonic hd tapes.
