I am recieving movie(s) from a Discreet Edit system. What is the best file structure for them to export in order to import into Encore? I have found that a full frame/uncompressed avi is too big to import into Premiere on my stystem and I would imagine the same to be true for Encore.
Is there a compression that is best for retaining a good image and yet is managable in size?
    Please advise.

Try Huffy-YUV. Both the Discreet system and your Encore system will need the codec installed.

I had a major problem with Huffy…crashed my project and wouldn’t let me render motion menus. I finally tech support and they said the cpu is maxing out because it’s trying to decompress the huffy’s and trying to compress the mpeg2’s. I used DV files and all worked fine.

I’ve used Huffy many times…no problems yet.
