  • Best File to encode 5.1 ac3 from in Compressor?

    Hey all,

I’ve captured a 5.1 mix as individual channels off of a DAT sync locked to the DigiBeta Capture @ 25fps. This audio will need to be given to the DVD authorer as an .ac3 asset, so they can drop into their scenarist project.

I was planning on going about this by making a multi channel aif in Nuendo (the DAW I use) and dropping that file into compressor with an ac3 setting. I don’t have compressor available to me right now to run any test, so is this the right way of going about things? Also is there a specific order compressor/scenarist like the L R C RL RR channels?

    Many Thanks,

    Andy

You’ll need 6 separate AIFFs that will be used to drop into Compressor to make the AC3.

Is there a specific order for these to be dropped in – or does compressor let you assign which is which?

Once you tell compressor you want to make a 5.1 a box will appear where you drag and drop each audio file onto L/R/C/LS/RS/SUB.
