  • best export settings MPEG streamclip – DVD to AVI via FCP

    Hi there,

I have a number of DVDs to edit in FCP and then eventually play on media players (Patriot Box Office) for a museum exhibition. I thought to use MPEG streamclip to export the DVD as DV to then import into FCP and eventually export as a .mov. However the resulting file cannot be played in the media players.

If i was to then bring that .mov file back into MPEG streamclip and export as an .avi would there be a noticeable loss in quality?

What would be the best settings in MPEG streamclip to ensure best quality .avi

    Thanks in advance!

What kind of .mov? Mov is just a wrapper – what codec did you use?

    I think its DV-PAL.
Would it be better to use something like H264? or MPEG-4 Video? – I can see now on the Patriot Manual that these are supported
    Thanks for your help
