Please help…was wondering if anyone can tell me the best export settings for DV footage from Premiere Pro into AE 7 for keying green screen? Footage shot with a Sony VX2100 in widescreen. Could you also tell me the best Composition settings for this same footage when bringing into AE 7?

    Cam,
I wouldn’t export it. You can use the original DV
footage in AE to key it. DV is frustrating hard to key
so any recompression is bad. On the other hand you could
cut and paste the sequence into an AE composition too.

Agreed. Using the original DV footage would be easiest.

However, trimming down the clips to only the selected pieces to be keyed would be useful. Copy/pasting the sequence into AE would certainly work…or save your Adobe Premiere Pro project after creating your “selects” on a separate sequence and then open the PPro project in AE and open that sequence as a comp…works great.

A bit of advice on keying DV footage that I was given here at the Cow…

In AE, take each separate key clip to it’s own comp and copy/paste it to create two identical clips, one above the other (aligned). Take the top layer and put a small blur on it (1 or 2 pixels…fast blur is probably fine) and assign the “color” blend mode to the top layer. This will smooth out the color a bit.

…then use the comp as a the key source in another comp.

Both great options. I appreciate the advise and thanks again.
