So usually I export from premiere as h264 .mp4 file – this gets me the best ratio of quality and size.

Now I got a project, where the audio has priority – I exported from Audition as wav and don’t want Premiere to downgrade it to mp3.
The video needs to be there of course, but the quality is not that crucial.

What would be the best settings to use here ? MPEG ?

ye, but one thing is the preset, and other is format.
All the video encoding formats have different audio output options.

As an example, if I choose the h264 I have AAC, Dolby Digital and MPEG,
but with h264 Blu-ray I have Dolby Digital and PCM.

According to this discussion, I think my best bet would be to go with PCM ?

hm, so I guess it’s not as easy. If I choose h264 blu-ray with PCM, the video is in m4v format, which I am not able to playback afterwards. Changing it to mp4 as some suggest, doesn’t work either.

What exactly are you trying to do? Where is this video shown? PCM audio isn’t really supported in your normal streaming formats/services and most of the time it doesn’t even matter for normal listeners.

Just trying to find a way to export a sequence (video+audio) with losless audio.

I think I got now what I was looking for… didn’t realize quicktime is also quite decent.
