Best Export Settings
I have a 10 minute short film that I made. It was shot in 1080i 23.98f/s. I want to know what export quality would give me the best looking product (as close to how it looks in Final Cut as possible).
Also, for internet (Vimeo, Youtube) and DVD (4.6GB max), would it be best to take this original large file and run it through compressor or is there a separate better export settings for those two through Final Cut?

First thing is to export QuickTime Movie and make self-contained. This will be your digital Master.
Drop that file into Compressor. Use Preset for DVD (MPEG 2) and h.264. 6 MB/s is a good bit rate for Vimeo/YouTube.

Actually, when you are exporting the self contained movie as quicktime in Final Cut, what settings do you use to get the best original file quality? I would usually choose “Apple ProRes 422 1920×1080 24p 48 khz”. Is there anything better than that? The footage is from a Nikon d5100

Do not use Export Using QuickTime Conversion. Export QuickTime Movie and do NOT change anything.
