Best Export option for web streaming/youtube?

For youtube start with Compressor’s H.264 LAN setting in the Web/QT 7 Compatible folder. Make a copy and change Data Rate Restrict to 3000 – 8000 Kbps. That setting should get you good HD quality in YT. YouTube

I shot my video on a sony PD170. The dimensions are 4 x 3. The video is interlaced (which I know isn’t good for youtube).

I know youtube makes things look terrible and that’s a fact, but I want the best compression settings possible.

Lots of the forum entries I read deal with HD stuff and wide screen but I don’t think really apply to me totally.

I exported in quicktime conversion using the following

H264
data rate: 1500

a custom scale to fit within 480×360. Preserved aspect ratio to fit within demensions. Deinterlaced the source video.

Frame rate: Current
Key Frames Automatic
Quality: high
Encoding: best quality multi pass

Would it have been better to make an MP4?

I had never done the dimension 480×360 before but it has been a while since uploaded on youtube and the shape of the window has changed. I think it looked pretty good.

Anyhow, my main issue is that the picture is often choppy, especially when there is any camera movement. I’ve watched other videos which make me think that mine could be smoother.

I tried doing it again experimenting with a Frame Rate of 30 and Key Frames every 30. It looked worse.

What am I missing? Is the key to use Compressor? I don’t know what I’m doing with it.

How long is the clip?

Depending on your answer you might be able to use a much higher bitrate.
