Best DVD’s to buy
Posted by Coachlux on March 9, 2007 at 6:07 pmJust a curious question but what are the best kinds of DVD’s to buy so I can burn a long project at the best quality possible?

March 9, 2007 at 7:04 pmHow long is the project? how is the audio treated? The length of the project and how the audio was treated will determine the best quality you can get with a particular size disk single or double layer, As far a brands go I like to use “Taiyo Yuden” -r printables.

March 9, 2007 at 10:26 pmDual-layer DVDs are longer, but can only be played on dual-layer players.
Disk manufacturer or type of disk has nothing to do with image quality. That is the result of high-quality variable-bitrate MPEG-2 compression from an uncompressed or lossless source, assuming your source looks good going in.
Disk manufacturer only affects the likelihood of the disk’s playing at all, in my experience.I use Verbatim.
For more info, consult the DVD Authoring COW forum.

Curious? Settop players that do dual layer have been around for some time, a lot longer than dual layer burners and media.
Discussion is moot as we don’t know the length of the project. -

March 10, 2007 at 12:57 pmSorry — I should have written “don’t assume that a dual-layer disc will play on as many players as a single-layer disc would”.
But point taken. 🙂
