Looking for drive reccomendations for a project that will be done in ProRes. I think it needs to hve 800 ports. Have seen lots of folks using GRaids. Anything out there that works well but is a little cheaper?

Anything else better? Yes. Cheaper? No. You don’t want cheap…you want good. This is ProRes…high data rate..not low rate DV. Get good drives.

Caldigit VR, Maxx Digital Desktop drives…good quad interface drives. eSATA is great, and does VERY well with ProRes. FW800 is the low end for that.

Hi Rick — We’ve had success using our internal Sata RAID with ProRes. In fact, ProRes has worked on our non-Raided Sata drives. Assuming you have at least a quad Mac that should work. I’m off to Alabama with Gail D to shoot the election but when I return let’s get together.
