Best compressed output – codec ?
Hello friends,
I was working really hard on my showreel.
Now I would like to save my master piece with full high quality on a 4,7 GB DVD or on a 8 GB DVD.
The render will take a while and so I wanted to ask you guys, which format you would pick for to get that video in the best video and audio quality on DVD.
The whole composition has about 15500 frames with 30 frames per second.

dvd mpeg2 can theoretically go up to 9.8 mbps but I’d like to see a dvd player actually play that without skipping and not have smoke coming out. I use 8 alot and most movies never go above 7mbps.
PCM sound is less room for video than mp2. DTS Digital Surround is freakin huge. Do not do super v-cd’s or mpeg1. Variable bit rate is good if you are low on room. keep target rate high around 7 or 8.
rez at 720*480 with a really good dvd encoder. If you run out of 4.7gb room, buy a 8gb double density dvd-9 spec DVD-R, NOT +R, unless you want to elimate your disk working in a lot of older dvd players.
