I’ trying to fit a 5 hour video project onto one dvd. Nothing special, just wanting to see if I can do it. What would the best codec to export with to quicktime to compress it enough and give me the best quality?

best quality and 5 hours is like opposing sides of a magnet.

    It will never stick.

You could probably do a 320 x 240 quicktime at 15 fps and manage it though.

full raster 30fps is almost out of the question for that time period without compression artifacts happening.

It doesn;t matter… he is going for a very low data rate and h264 is the best option. He just needs to figure out the best number to limit the data rate to. My math tells me that limiting the data rate to around 225KB/Sec (2000kb) will be able to fit it onto a DVD (this equates to 13.5MB/Min, or 810MB/Hr).

This should look really good considering the compression ratio.
