    All,

I am new to PP 1.5 and have a (somewhat) elementary question.
My system Dell 2.5Ghz processor, 1GB RAM and ample disk space.

I have created a movie that is 28 minutes in length. The movie consists of Photoshop files, viedo clips and a background .wav track.

I need to output to DVD through Adobe Encore (I’ve created the menus in Photoshop).

When I export the movie using the .avi, with the either Cinepak or Indeo codecs, the file final is over 2.5GB. This makes it impossible (on my machine anyway) to manipulate in Encore.

I’ve read through the Compression Primer from Adobe and I still cannot determine the best options for output (to reduce the size of the overall output).

    Any suggestions?

If you’re going to DVD, export from Premiere Pro as MPEG-2 for DVD. Can’t be simpler than that.

Your choice of codec should be determined by how you intend to use the video. If you’re going to DVD, use MPEG-2. If you’re going back out to your video camera, use DV-AVI. If you’re going to post your video on the web, use WMV (and/or QuickTime).

When in doubt use the codec your original footage is in. (Usually this is DV-AVI.)

Indeo and Cinepak are ancient, don’t bother with them.

    Thank you Timothy.

Your suggestion of going to MPEG-2 DVD worked wonderfully.
