    Hi friends!

    I’m from Europe and all the video material that I have I poot it on DVDs. So all I do is rendering to DVD Architect PAL Widescreen all the video’s;

    Press the “Custom” botton and in the tab Video we find the option “I-frames”. By default for DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen the value is I-frames=15 and for DVD Architect PAL Widescreen is I-frames=12.
    So, the Manual of Sony Vegas says “A setting of 15 is recommended if you’re creating MPEG files for DVDs or SVCDs”. My question is: this recommendation of I-frames=15 is recommended only for NTSC or for PAL too?

    2. in the tab “Advanced Video” we find the option “Allow field-based motion compensation” which by default is checked, but the Manual of Sony Vegas recommend that this option should be cleared if you’re creating MPEG files for NTSC or PAL DVDs or SVCDs. How should I let this option? Checked or unchecked?

    Thanks a lot, Alexander.

    I have never changed any of the default settings in the templates except for bit-rate and two-pass and I’ve had no problems. I’d be careful that you understand exactly what the manual is telling you. Sony would NOT deliver a template that needs to be tweaked in any way in order to work correctly. Just use the templates provided and you shouldn’t have any problems.

    Ok John, thanks for your advice.
    Anyway, in my opinion this is a big discrepancy between the help file and the template setting.

    I agree it is odd that the template specifically says NTSC DVD and then the documentation says that the settings should not be used for DVD’s. I’ve been using Vegas for 8 years since Vegas Video 3.0 and have never changed this and produced 1000’s of NTSC DVD without any problems. Feel free to change it and see if it makes a difference.

    Thanks a lot John. It’s very strange that the people who work for Sony Creative Software don’t made the necessary changes in the documentation help; anyway I prefer to trust in your long experience.
    Respectfully yours, Alexander.

    Alexander, I suggest sending this to SCS and see what their response is. Then they can resolve these conflicts in the help and template.

    Allright Jerry, even if I don’t understand why need to do this a client of the services that they provide. It’s very strange that such a big company like SCS offer a soft without previous checking.

    Anyway, reading another comments on internet I understood that it isn’t the first time when people send them notices about this mistakes. All I see is that nothing has change until nou. A great soft, an improvable company.

    Regards, A.
