I am looking to streamline my workflow as much as possible and want to buy a cheap (less than $1000.00), compact HD camera that will record in a format that is native to Final Cut 6. Any suggestions? Thank you.

At that price only an HDV camera will be native. AVCHV cameras need to have their material transcoded on ingest.

    All the best,

And, the only camera that records to a native QT file is the camera from JVC, which isn’t cheap. https://www.electronista.com/articles/09/02/11/jvc.gy.hm700.hd.camera/
