  • best BM capture settings, project combines beta SP and DV footage?

I am using both beat sp footage and DV in an edit.

The DV is captured native via firewire.

What would be the best blackmagic capture settings for the Beta SP? I’ve been playing with the 8-bit uncompressed, but it seems to have a different frame size or pixel size than the DV footage.

Should I just capture the Beta SP as Blackmagic DV?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello,

I think Betacam is PAL 768×576 for 4-3 footage where PAL DV would be 720×576. 8 Bit un-compressed would be best for the Betacam footage when capturing analogue component as you will be maintaning the quality where by the DV codec will be limited colour space. The Un-compressed 8 bit will be more robust for colour corrections and manipulations.

In Adobe Premiere Pro you should be able to force the Aspect ratio of the DV clip by dragging/dropping onto the timeline and then choosing the interpret footage and choosing the desired apsect ratio needed.

    Hope this helps?
