We get good results with this mike indoors but outdoors wind noise is killing us.

I’d like to get a blimp or blimp kit.

we have several of the rycote INV-HG mark III shock mounts.

What blimp model do you suggest.

    Hello Craig,

the at4053 has a 21mm body diameter. Check me on this.

the Rycote Baby Ball Gag for 21mm bodies is this.

this will work as well as a blimp?

    Craig,

Yes, it’s a round ball, actually. You need to be sure to order the correct model by knowing the diameter of the hole, otherwise it won’t fit

Furries are optional, but the ball takes most of the wind out.

yes 21 mm on AT’s site. same as the MK41 Supercardioid Capsule. Is the only advantage then to the blimps is that different diameters would work with it?

Well the ball must fit exactly 21 mm. So a blimp would have the advantage of fitting a variety of mikes.

Other wise no other advantage for the extra money?

    Craig,

I think it’s about how close you can get the mic to the talent. I think the Baby Ball Gag wins there, but I haven’t seen how much closer the smaller blimps will let you get.
