Morning Scott, Thanks for your response, I just downloaded Trial of
Sound Forge Pro, where do we go from here ?

Try inserting the “Wave Hammer” fx into your audio track, select the “voice” preset and tweak till you feel you are getting the desired results. Also the “track compressor” can also be reasonable to try as well, but wavehammer has a few more presets….good luck!

You don’t need Sound Forge to get Wave Hammer anymore. Vegas Pro comes with Wave Hammer Surround so you can do this all in Vegas. That FM radio announcer voice can be achieved with a little bit of EQ and a lot of compression. I agree with Scott, the “Voice” preset in Wave Hammer Surround is a good place to start.

Thanks to the both of you , I just did notice that “Wave Hammer” is in My Vegas Pro, and hopefully later today we will put it to the test..

BTW approx.how much “compression” would one apply,or is this just a trial and error thing ????

You should also consider any other audio tracks. When voice over is used, it is a good idea to apply a notch filter to keep those tracks from stomping on the voice or narrative. I don’t recall if there is a built-in preset for this.

As was suggested, start with the “Voice” preset and “season to taste” from there. When you hear too much pumping or the noise floor is too great, it’s probably time to back off a little.
