If you want a conventional mouse, look at the Kensington Si300 Laser Mouse. I just purchased one, (available through the Apple Store), find it ergonomic on the hand, and tracks better than any mouse I’ve ever had. It has a new type of laser, invisible and not dangerous if you look directly at it. Although I don’t know why one would do that.

I bought the wired version, works better with apps like FCP and Color. I’ve tried a couple others, including a wireless Kensington, and have not had much luck. The Apple mouse, while it works well, is not easy on the hand.

Others on this forum like the tablet type, Wacom is the brand I think. Walter?

    Cheers,

We have 2 wacom tablets here, I only use mine for motion graphics stuff, but the other editor here prefers his for editing as well. I like using the Apple mighty mouse, the scroll ball makes navigating your timeline really fast, no need to drag the slider bar at the bottom to scroll through the timeline.

Micosoft and Logitech make good 3 button mice that work on the Mac. I use a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 on my system, the other uses a Logitech Wireless Laser Mouse. But work equally fine.

I love my wacom tablet for FCP. I had problems with getting the middle button to work in color with the logitec (limited Mac drivers) so bought a Microsoft. The wireless works faultlessly and the shape is very easy to hold for long periods – well for a mouse anyway!
