  • Benefits of “Interpreting Footage” over simply dropping/rendering in timeline

I have a bunch of old DVX100 footage that I am trying to work with in a ProRes HQ 1080p 23.98 timeline.

After removing the pulldown in the “Modify” settings, I noticed the option to change the interlaced fields to progressive.

Is there an advantage to doing this instead of rendering out in a timeline? Is there a difference at all? The DV footage will eventually be processed through a teranex, but we’d like to use the best quality that we can in the mean time.

    Thanks!
