[Beginner] How do I set my sequence?
Posted by Peltier Florian on June 13, 2009 at 5:40 pmHi everybody!
I have a small series of rushes in an exotic format that I have a problem with regard to the sequence settings.
This rushes is .mov (H264) en 480×320 et 29,97fps
I’m starting in Final cut Pro and I don’t know how to set my sequence to fit the exact size of my footage and not have to render each change.
Could you explain this symply please (I do not speak English very well)
Thank you to those who take the time to help me

June 13, 2009 at 5:45 pmHow did your rushes become .h264 quicktimes? .h264 is not an editing format, it’s for Web delivery, so the media will have to be transcoded to DV or another codec that is meant for editing.

June 13, 2009 at 7:43 pmYou can have FCP conform the sequence settings to the footage automatically – look under User Preferences

June 13, 2009 at 7:52 pmIndeed, i don’t know how did my rushes become .h264 quicktimes.
This is footage available on the web for a contest for the production of a promotion Video. This is this sequences > https://www.up-front-works.jp/morningmusume-opv/material_list.html
I don’t want to participate in this contest. I just want to train me.
I already tried to transcode to DV with MPEG Streamclip but original quality is already not good then it is even worse after transcode.

“You were trying the right thing. The people who posted the video just didn’t know any better. There are many other sources of good green screen video on the Web, I would look for something better than .h264. DV sucks too for green screen, you shoudl look for DVCPro50 up to HD Quicktimes for real-world practice.

June 13, 2009 at 8:39 pmThanks
Thus, you advised me to move on and find bests sources of quality (especially in DvcPRO50), is that ?
I don’t know where I find this type of file.
Can you give me some addresses? If not, just for information, what would you do to use these videos with FCP if you would do inevitably.
Excuse me again for my english.

There is no setup for H264 as FCP cannot edit this codec without constant render, so this advice only works with editing codecs.
