January 4, 2007 at 6:10 amHey Clayton. I have your setup as my backup/2nd sytem. M100 is so reliable. I put my new m100 V822 on a g4 dual 1.42 system with 1.25 gb ram and a 2.3TB sata drive from Mac Gurus. Render times are so much faster. I have the SDI option with DV and it all works flawlessly. Best of luck with your new purchases! Kind Regards, Chris K.

January 4, 2007 at 10:00 amI started with 7.5 on a G-4 800mh running on OS9. I wanted to get on OS10. So I bought a re-conditioned G-4 dual 1.44mh on the web and upgraded to 8.2.2. What a difference. Fast as the 7.5 on OS9 and so much more… You could probably pick up a G-4 1.44 mh cheap and you will have a great back up.
just my opinion,

January 4, 2007 at 12:38 pmHi Clayton,
Just an FYI, the ICE cards aren’t OSX compatible. The rest of the plan is OK though.
One thing though, what’s the spec of your new FCP suite? If it contains AJA hardware, you might be able to bolt the new media 100 software on to it so you can have the best of both worlds.

January 4, 2007 at 7:59 pmHi Clayton,
I just got off the phone with the folks at Media100. I have a system that I am selling. Media100 suggested listing it on this forum. Lo and behold, you are seeking what I have. However, I am selling the 2 board set with this unit.
I have a MDD, dual 1.42 G4 with 1Gb of RAM and 2 hard drives (Seagate 120 and 250).
I have tested the boards and both passed. I have all manuals and original packaging for the Media100 system. Unfortunately, the version is only 6. Media100 informed me that it could be upgraded to 8.2.3 for $595.00.
Let me know if this is more or less what you are seeking.
Thanks,
Michael

January 5, 2007 at 6:09 pmHi Clayton,
The new Media 100 HD systems are designed to work with AJA hardware. Have a quick chat with Media 100 about the various options.
The software only options to bolt onto existing AJA hardware shouldn’t cost much more than the other route, but will yield much greater rewards in both features and performance.
HTH,
K
