  • Beachtek or Studio 1 – comfort factor

Hi, I figured it made more sense to post this here rather than in the audio forum.

I’m not interested really in comparing Beachtek vs Studio 1 XLR adapters for quality, because I’ve heard great things about both. I’m more inclined to get the Beachtek with phantom power, though, for what it’s worth.

    However…

I’m very interested to know how anyone here feels about the comfort factor of one or the other. If I’m not mistaken, the Studio 1 models clip-on, so you can wear it on a belt, etc, whereas the Beachtek mounts only on the camera. I’m wondering if anyone prefers one style over the other? I’ll be using an adapter with a Canon HV20 (tiny camera).

Thanks a lot for any info!

Well, can’t really attest to comfort, but we do occassionaly use a little HV20 as a crashcam, and use the Beachtek with it if we need XLR sound. I can say that it works very very well.

    I hadn’t really thought about comfort… I guess I probably will now… hmmmmm.

It’s best to have the camera and adapter screwed together as one unit and not have cables exposed that can get in the way or snag on something.

The stuido 1 does come with a clip for belt mounting but also mounts under the camera the same as the beachtek.
