When drawing a mask on a layer with BCC extrude text, it does not behave as usual. Let say made a 3D text using Extrude, i would like to draw a mask to reveal only part of the text. Any idea ?? Thanks

It would help if you told us what host you are using as I’m sure masking is very different in FCP, Avid, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Vegas Pro, etc.

    Hi John,

I believe this is working as designed. The mask works on the layer, but BCC replaces the layer with it’s own 3D drawing and so the contents of the layer or any masks have no affect (i.e., the layer is ignored and just becomes a canvas for drawing). It works like this in Vegas Pro as well.

Then is there a way to reveal the 3d text over time ??? i usually can achieve this with a simple mask and animated it via keyframes over time. Thanks

Sure, just precompose the layer and make sure you select Move all attributes into the new composition . Then you can add the mask to the precomp.
