I have been experiencing a significant banding problem when applying the BCC 4.2 Film Process effect to SD footage that was originally shot on HDCAM at 23.98. It was captured through SDI to 1:1 MXF. I am working on a Symphony 4.0.5
The banding/low quality result after rendering is similar to what occurs when the HQ option is not selected for the resize effect, for example. The problem is, the HQ option is inactive within the parameters of the Film Process effect. If anyone has any answers/suggestions/ideas they’d be appreciated.

Do you see it before you render it?
    did you render at 1:1?

the banding isn’t on the clip inherently , but the it is constantly present when the effect is applied. I rendered at 1:1. There is a “smoother” quality parameter, but it doesn’t change the image quality either before or after rendering.

Grinner makes a good point, check your render tab in your media creation settings. If this doesn’t help would you mind posting a screen shot of the behavior?

I checked the render tab and made sure it was 1:1. Also checked the effect with similar footage on a Symphony 1.8.3 using BCC 4.2 and it produced the same results. I’m going to post a short clip of the problem, the first half with the effect the 2nd without.

That’s not “banding”. It’s some kind of field issue.

    it was a BCC4.2.2 bug
