    Hello all,

I’m trying to output an encode that will play nice with my client’s PC. Here are my parameters:

Source material is XDCam HD 422 1920x1080i
    Timeline is the same.
Exported as an H264 1920×1080 file. Quicktime Self-contained.

It plays perfectly on my Macbook Pro, even playing directly off a burned disc (data disc).

When I boot up windows (or my client views it on their PC) we get the same error message:

“Error -2048 Couldn’t open the file because it is not a file that QuickTime understands”

Funny how it is a file CREATED by FCP, a quicktime based program, but it still can’t understand it. I’m sure it’s all Bill Gates’ fault.

I really want to keep it as a H264 file if possible. I thought H264 was Apple’s new “universal” codec. . . . go figure.

    Thanks for the help guys.

    Tim

I think that you might have a mismatch somewhere. I would export a reference movie out of FCP and then create an h264 from Compressor.

    You’re using Quicktime Conversion now?

Which version of QT does the PC have?
