It would seem that has a long time varicam user I would know this. But…

My battery warning is coming on and operations shut down way before the battery is depleted.
Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing? It could be a battery problem but its happening with all 4 of them.
I am using AB Hytron Digital battery’s. Camera is set for Digital 14.

    Thanks,
    Elliott

You could try another setting in the battery menu and see what happens. The level meters on those batteries are notoriously inaccurate. Anton Bauer recently replaced several of my Hytron 120’s as they failed to take a charge, even though the meters indicated full charge. They have a three year warranty.

How old are you hytrons? Are they the Hytron 100’s which are known for less than stellar performance?

Do you run the battery cycle test with the interactive charger?

You can get longer run time if you set the battery setting on the varicam to NP-1B thereby fooling the camera at where cut off point is.

The battery warning coming on can be changed in the VTR user menu, but if it is shutting down me guesses your out of juice. Try leaving the battery indicator info in the viewfinder…Vtr menu again vf indicator…on and watch the voltage reading in the upper right of the view finder. I think my shuts off at about 12.8 volts. If the voltage goes that low, time for some new batts

Thanks to all. Just got back from a 2 day shoot and used the NP-1B setting which helped me out a bit on the Hytron 100’s. I didn’t have time to do a 24 hour test on the batteries but went ahead and ordered two Hytron 120’s. I was also able to save a little power by going straight to our HD monitor and leaving out the AJA converter as our SD logging station.
