  • Batching into Premiere, starting with an Avid ALE file

I have exported an Avid Log Exchange (ALE) file from a bin in our old Avid MC.

Will Premiere Pro CC accept this file to receive data to batch capture these clips from tape? All original clips were identified by unique reel name and everything has continuous timecode.

Any special steps to being this library of clips across to the Premiere Pro world?

    Probably not. EDLs work though.

I’ll experiment. This isn’t a timeline, just a bin full of promo clips. I want to get the data to make a batch digitize on the new Adobe system nice and smooth.

If you have access to Final Cut Studio, you can use Cinema Tools to turn the ALE into an FCP batch list, which can be imported and turned into an FCP bin. The bin can be exported as XML, which Premiere can import.

Convoluted, but might work. Sorta fun to try.
