  • Batch Time Remap script?

Posted by Kevin Reiner on March 3, 2012 at 4:55 pm

Anyone know of a batch timeremapping script. I have about 500 movies for a live event project. There may come a time where the director says make those 40 videos 20% faster, and those 30 videos 15% faster etc.

So I plan to use AE to do the time remapping. I’m going to make a clean AE project, bring in the files, make a comp for each file, time remapping each file to “X”percent, rendering out at new length with a file name with a identifying suffix added (ie BlueMoon_20slower.mov).

A script would help tremendously here, but I have been unable to find one and I am scripting illiterate. Or is there a compression tool that would handle this better? I’ve found that AE with pixel motion suits my needs.

    Thanks for any help.

Not that I know of but you can link Timewarp’s Speed parameter to an Expression Slider. The tricky part is knowing how to group your clips in the timelines. Otherwise, all the clips will be affected by the speed property in similar fashion.

    Thanks Roland,

I was going down the same path as you suggested. I can control the speed of the clips in their precomps with a slider effect in a separate control comp. The problem then is rendering out each clip at its new length. I still have to manually set that. Not sure if there is a way to automate comp length to match new clip length.
