I have a vegas project that was edited with Standard definition .MPG files.
I have High Definition M2TS files with the same file name that I would like to use.

Is there any way to tell vegas to look for the files in the HD folder and replace all the files without having to do each one individually.

Vegas can’t do it, unless you use third-party extensions to replace media files

    Hello!

Please tell us some third-party tools.
For example, Replace Media of Vegasaur doesn’t help.

    With thanks,
    Ellen

Could you clarify? What you want to achieve.

Something slightly different from what original poster wanted.
For example, I have in a folder these files which are used in a single project:

    ab.mp4
    abc.mp4
    abcd.mp4

I renamed them like this (they are in the same folder):

    ab-2017.mp4
    abc-2017.mp4
    abcd-2017.mp4

When I open their project file I get the obvious promt which asks me what to do for the “missing” files.
Is really easy to right click each of the three of them and choose replace file.
But what to do if there are several files like that already used in a project.
Again, I really needed those files renamed.
And I’m just wondering if there is an easier way to replace those files.

I don’t know a tool that can batch replace renamed files.

    1) Take all the ABC.mpg files and put them in an MPG sub folder.

    2) Put all the ABC-2017.mp4 in an MP4 subfolder.

    3) Open vegas and when prompted to find the files, point vegas at the abc-2017.mp4 files.

    4) Then adjust your project settings to match the new file format.

    5) verify placements of L3 graphics and any pan/crops.

Your new ABC-2017.mp4 files will need to be frame for frame duration accurate as the originals. If they are not, you will need to sort that out before you attempt step 3.

This is a pretty standard “Proxy Editing” technique.

    Hello.

    My (exactly the same)

    ab.mp4
    abc.mp4
    abcd.mp4

    files are just renamed into

    ab-2017.mp4
    abc-2017.mp4
    abcd-2017.mp4

    Same size, resolution, extension.

When I renamed the files, they were already used in my project. And now I must work on that project with those same files. Because they are renamed, vegas promts the usual screen with “missing” files.
