  • Batch processing text overlay of a clip’s filename – workflow / software?

Posted by Craig Mccourry on December 21, 2014 at 1:36 am

I want to batch process a text overlay on a bunch of Quicktime clips. I have thousands of Quicktime clips that need to have their clip’s filename watermarked onscreen using some batch processing workflow / software / plugin. For example, if the clip filename is “550043.mov” then I want the filename of “550043” to appear on the lower right of screen of the outputted clip. Is there some software that has this batch processing capability for adding the clip’s filename as a text overlay?

    Resolve can do this.

I am not sure about jumping onboard with Resolve due to costs… unless the free app version of Resolve Lite could work. Would Resolve Lite be able to perform this function?

Any other software or plugin options like Final Cut Pro, Premiere, Compressor or ???

    i’m pretty sure it’ll work
almost all functions of resolve work in the free version,
as long as your media is HD or SD.

import your media in the Media window,
put all clips into a timeline in the Edit window,
set up your batch export in the Delivery window
