batch name changes in AE
if i have a photoshop file with a LOT of layers inside AE and i want to change the name of each file inside AE, like adding and “A” to the end of each file name, is there a way to batch this? another program that will let me record a key action to do that?

if i have 100’s of files in AE and i want to add another number or letter to the end of each one, instead of doing that manually, can i use automator or something like it to do it? its only a few keystrokes that need to be played out over and over again.

Yes — select the Ps layers you want to rename in the project panel, then use the script I called out above to append something to their name. Nice and easy.
Note this is not quite the same as actually renaming the layers in Ps, but it will help you differentiate layers in your Ae comp.
