Batch List Help – Hard one!
Hello,
I often use microsoft excel to help log tapes (when I have a lot to do). I always setup the four coloums – ‘Name’, ‘Media Start’, ‘Media End’, and ‘Reel’.
This always works fine, then I go do a batch capture and everything gets done for me while I am at the pub.
The problem is this:
I have an edit to do, I have been supplied 12 mini DV tapes, with an excel log sheet.
All the coloums are correct, and it imports correctly, HOWEVER:
Instead of putting the timecode as: 00:00:00:00 they have put it as 00:00 on the excel sheet.
So when I import it, Final Cut Pro think the minutes are seconds, and seconds are frames!!
Is there ANYWAY of either Excel or Final Cut Pro to fix this? There are 453 entries.. so I dont want to do it by hand!

You’ll have to do it one by one I’m pretty sure… If there is a way it would have to be in excel… but I’ll bet there’s not a way to deal with this except doing it clip by clip.

Excel will regard this 00:00 as a date. Use this formula in another column:
=CONCATENATE(“00:00:”;TEXT(HOUR(A1);”00″);”:”;TEXT(MINUTE(A1);”00″))
Substitute A1 for the column you need. Drag the formula to fill the entire column. Cut and paste to another sheet.

Thanks very much for the formula. Can’t get it to work though. I don’t understand excel that well.
The numbers I want to change are in coloum c and d. Is this where I post the formula? just into the top cell?
