  • batch file for back up?

Posted by Andy Edwards on August 13, 2005 at 10:29 pm

I went back to the manual for this one, but did not get the answer I needed. Does FCP save a batch list as a separate file or just as the Bin you see inside your project? I read in the Cow archives I can export a bin as a shot batch list, but then you have to import that into Excel. Is there a specific file I can back up for safety on a long project that has my batch lists? Or am I stuck with just backing up the whole project file?

From my old Premiere days, I would just save the batch file after capturing all my tapes in case I needed to re-digitize.

Export the Batch list and save it if you want.

Its easy to reopen it in FCP (or Excel) if you ever need to.

But why NOT just “back up the whole project”?

    Its a very small file.

You, of course, don’t need to back up the captured media, just the project which contains all of your info.

Thanks for the info Matte. I will be backing up the project file in multiple locations on a daily basis. I was just wondering if FCP made actual batch capture lists that I could save independently.
