From what I can tell there’s no way to batch render multiple projects straight from FCPX. Before I buy Compressor I just wanted to check that it won’t force me to actually ‘compress’ anything (I use Sorrenson Squeeze for that so just want render out to a high quality pro res or similar as I would from in FCPX). Does compressor have the same output options as FC? Is it faster / slower?

    Philip,
You are correct and it frustrates me daily that I cannot select multiple projects and just export them out or send to compressor.
You can export out from FCP in the native mode or in any other preset that is delivered with FCPX.
People’s ideas about Compressor are going to be all over the shop. Mine? I like Compressor and when you have a virtual cluster set up, the speed in which Compressor can give you multiple outputs or daily chained to multiple formats has never ceased to make me smile and caused me to run 5miles faster – something I started doing back in Compressor 3 while waiting for my encoding to finish.

I am pulling my hair out too! I used to batch export sequences from FCP 7 overnight to a Watch folder, get Squeeze to watch it, transcode the sequences and upload to a FTP location – now I have to add half a day to export from FCP X one project at a time – maddening!
