Batch editing titles in Vegas Pro 11

If it’s been rendered to WMV then the Text has been “baked-in” into the files. What you are asking is to remove the eggs from an omelette.

I can’t think of a way t do that. I can think of many ways to Batch render many Clips with different Text items.

Any other takers?

But sorry, I wasn’t clear enough. I still have the source files for most of these clips and the original .veg files. So I would have thought it would be possible somehow.

I’m a newbie to Vegas Pro (and editing generally) so am unsure how to proceed.

Understood. Sounds like a great project to have to execute.

OK, I don’t know of any single one multiple script/s that will:-

1] Allow you to get at those TEXT Media files from fetching external Text for editing automatically, this info would need to be externally source from some type of WORD doco or DB table.

…then . .

2] Allow you to script anything or replace

… then..

3] Render that sequence and then move on to the next file

Now, 1] is way beyond my abilities but having bashed about VP for the past 12 years, getting at the actual SONY functions appears to be verboten, but I may be incorrect. Need Johnny Rofrano to comment.

However 2] and 3] can be done but again linking your requirements may not be. And again JR could have a solution. VASST’s Production Assistant seems a dead ringer for this type of activity.

I do know that there are elements of all what we do available to you, save my point 1] above, but you’d be wanting a single one-shot solution. Thinking now further Production Assistant just may have the option.

I started to consider Nesting and Replace Media at Markers . . that type of thing?

Interesting . . . .

BTW, I make a fine Herb Omelette!

This depends on the structure of your projects. If you could share your typical .veg file and describe how your titles should be “replaced”, I could tell you whether it can be done automatically or not.

If you simply want to add predefined titles to your video files – Vegasaur can do it (opening title, end title, overlay title must be the same in all the videos).

If all titles are unique – no.

Thanks, that helps me focus my thinking on what I need to do.

On the clips where I have the source files, the following:

1. On opening titles:
Replace the existing title (simple Vegas Pro “Titles & Text” type) which each have different text with one standardised title

2. On overlay titles:
Replace each standardised title with a different standardised title

3. On end titles:
Ditto.

On the clips where I only have finished HD .WMV files

1. On opening titles:
Add a new standardised title (cropped) that will overlay the old copyright details

2. On overlay titles:
Ditto.

3. On end titles:
Ditto.

Vegasaur can help you with the first scenario – where you have “pure” source video clips (w/o burned-in titles). Currently, it can not replace the text, but it can take your source video clips and add all three titles to them. You should prepare titles as a separate .veg projects – one .veg file for opening title, one .veg file for ending title and one .veg file for overlay title. Then you should add all your clips to Transcoder’s render queue, specify titles, output format(s), and render:

In case where you only have only finished HD .WMV files (with burned-in titles, yes?), Vegasaur can cut off opening and ending titles via source properties. For example, if you want to cut off 5 seconds from the start and end of a clip:

You can also add overlay title, but your burned-in title remains in video, you can’t remove it.

Thanks Alexsey, it sounds pretty close to what I need.

In the case of the finished HD WMVs, from what you say I can use the new overlay title in a cropped opaque box to overlay the original burned-in overlay title?

Similarly, I should logically be able to overlay (full frame this time) the original opening and end titles in the same way?

And for all of them would I be able to specify a fade offset in each .veg file? And a music track intro on the leader and outro on the trailer?

Sorry so many questions, but this sounds like the it could be the best solution for me.

No tool that I know of will replace your existing titles in your project. Perhaps a custom script could be written to do this. If you want me to see if I can write one, send me a .veg file and I’ll see what I can do.
