  • Batch digitizing proxys to HD from XDCAM VTR wont work

Posted by Willy Bernardoff on May 8, 2008 at 3:30 pm

Ok Im very new to Avid, so here is the scenario

Im at a film school and my whole class seems to be having this same problem, no one seems to be able to work it out. Please help us Avid Gurus.

We have some footage on sony XDcam shot at 1080 50i, We batch capture the proxy files from a XDCAM VTR, edit the time line ect, Finish for the the day all is cool. Then if we open the project on a different avid to where it was originally created and use the XDCAM VTR to up res the footage to HD, it doest recognize the VTR.

So basically avid isn’t re-linking the path way to the VTR that was originally set up if we move our project to another computer.

Thanks in advance for anyone who has a solution.

Can you control the deck at all? Does it work with other projects?

    Hi Jon,

The deck is set up so you can access from any avid suite and yes you can control it initially and if I only work from that avid it works fine. But the problem is if relocate my project to another avid which i have done it wont connect with the VTR again. Ive tried exporting the edl starting a new project then batch digitizing and that wont work either.

My whole class is having the same trouble. Its been a week and no one (even the teachers) has a solution.

    dose that make sense?

    Thanks

    WB

You’ve got 1 deck hooked up to multiple Avids? How is the deck being controlled (RS-422 or firewire)? How is the control signal routed (patch panel, router)? If you put your disk in the deck (man that sounds weird, like pb&j in the VCR), can you see the video signal?
