Batch Center Audio Tracks
Is there a way to batch center all audio tracks in a project. I know how to individually do each clip by bringing it up into the viewer and changing the pan from -1 and 1 to both zero but I need to do this to thousands of clips. thanks in advance.

You can simply center pan one audio clip, then select that clip in the timeline, copy it, then select all clips you want center panned and paste attributes, then choose Audio Attributes and check Pan.
Be aware, center panning right and left channels will “sum” the two together, thus significantly raising the levels.

you can also select all the clips you want to center and press ‘control-.’ (control and period).
Look in the “modify>audio>” submenu for lots of handy shortcuts…

if this worked this would be exactly what we need but on our system this hasn’t worked. any ideas why it isnt? everything i read says that the control period shortcut should work as a batch but its only working for single clips. not sure why. thanks in advance.

Sorry Jason, I’ve never seen that before so I don’t know if I can help. It works for me on several different systems I’ve tried. Have you done the usual troubleshooting stuff: repair permissions, trashing prefs, running software updater, etc? You might need to re-install the software if all else fails.

I just do it in the pan browser column. Simple, fast and done before you even begin editing.

Hey Kevin, forgive my obliviousness here 🙂 but is a new column added to the browser in FCP 7? I can’t find it in my v6.0.6 copy.
